When Adam Morris and Oonagh O’Keeffe got in touch with Liam at Ashmore Music to discuss hiring a quality wedding band for their upcoming wedding at Hawkstone Hall Hotel and Gardens in Shropshire, they chose The Squires as live performers for their special day. Liam guided them through our simple booking process and was always on-hand to answer any queries or questions the couple may have had before their wedding ceremony.
Liam was keen to learn more about Adam and Oonagh, who have been together since 2018, They met through work in Shrewsbury, and the couple got engaged exactly five years later. They admitted that they are completely besotted with Albert the beagle since he joined them in 2021, and that their whole world revolves around him! When not working for Wetherspoons, they love nothing more than taking Albert for walks, stopping off at the odd pub or two on the way.
When the couple chose the quality wedding band The Squires, Liam told them a bit more about this professional two-piece band, who love nothing more than delivering live wedding performances all over the UK, including the Midlands, the Northwest and Shropshire. The Squires comprises two professional musicians who maximise their sound through vocal harmonies, bass sampling and live looping. James (vocalist and guitarist) and Nathan (drums, percussion and vocalist), have both lived and breathed music from a young age and are very experienced at performing tailored wedding music live, from soulful acoustic sets to foot-tapping, floor-filling party and dance numbers.
The couple provided a small list of their favourite artists for the DJ sets, from ABBA to Gearoid McCarthy, and requested that the last song played should be ‘Girl all the bad guys want’, by American rock band Bowling for Soup. Oonagh had also planned a surprise dance with her father, to Celine Dion’s ‘Because you loved me.’ The band were asked to keep this as a surprise, as long as Oonagh knew when it was going to happen!
For the Adam and Oonagh’s first dance, they requested the pre-recorded track of the Ben Monteith song ‘Say you won’t let go, asking that their guests be invited to join them on the dancefloor about half-way through.

Hawkstone Hall Hotel and Gardens offers a number of different spaces, so every wedding can be uniquely tailored to individual couples, the wedding party, their families and guests. The couple booked our Silver and Gold package, which includes a live acoustic performance during the drinks reception, following the wedding ceremony. This meant that Adam and Oonagh’s guests could sip champagne to an accompanying soundtrack of modern and classic songs, all specially chosen for their relaxed and chilled vibe. As well as an acoustic performance, this package included two live performances by our quality wedding band The Squires during the evening reception. Following the couple’s first dance together, James and Nathan really got the party started by delighting guests with their punchy sound and floor fillers. During the wedding breakfast, between and after live performances, pre-recorded DJ sets were played over our PA system, so there was musical accompaniment throughout the day and evening, featuring some of the couple’s favourite artists and songs.
