When Louise and Julie contacted us, we found their story especially touching. They had met through work a number of years ago but had both gone their separate ways. But fate smiled on them, and somehow, they found their way back together again. Along with their two children, Albie and Brogan, and their two dogs, Bowie and Dougal, they have made a wonderful life together. So they were very excited about getting married and had planned a very special and intimate ceremony to be held at the ultimate Shropshire wedding barn venue The Mill Barns.

The Mill Barns offers three oak-framed wedding barns set in eight acres of mature gardens that wedding guests can stroll through using its unique walkway. What makes The Mill Barns even more perfect as a wedding venue is the terrace outside each barn, so whether the happy couple chooses to celebrate inside or outdoors, they are guaranteed a romantic setting.
Ceremonies are held in the Mill Wheel Barn, which has perfect acoustics to make sure every guest hears the vows, no matter where they are seated. The Mill Stone Barn or Mill Pond Terrace provide the perfect backdrop for the drinks reception. And finally, the wedding party can dance the night away to a wedding band from Ashmore Music in The Mill Pond Barn, complete with dancefloor, bar and moonlit terrace.
To say that our experienced wedding band The Ashmore Brothers were thrilled to be chosen to play live wedding music for Louise and Julie’s special day, is somewhat of an understatement. Matt, the drummer in the band had met Julie many years before through his experience as a sign language interpreter, so the brothers were really looking forward to performing live at Louise and Julie’s wedding and playing their part in making the day memorable for the happy couple.
Having entertained audiences throughout the UK and across Europe individually, The Ashmore Brothers love nothing more than performing together while helping happy couples to celebrate their wedding day in style.
As Louise and Julie chose the platinum music package from Ashmore Music, they were guaranteed tailored wedding music for them and their guests throughout the day and evening from The Ashmore Brothers, a three-piece wedding band. Our platinum package provided the happy couple with the following live entertainment:
- Live acoustic songs pre-ceremony, while guests entered The Mill Wheel Barn to take their seats for the wedding service. Louise and Julie chose to walk down the aisle together to the pre-recorded version of ‘Little Life’, by Cordelia.
- Following the ceremony, The Ashmore Brothers played ‘Dancing in the Moonlight’ by Toploader and ‘You and Me. By Penny and the Quarters, while Louise and Julie signed the register. This was followed by a live rendition of ‘My Girl’ by the Temptations for the recession of the wedding party.
- The Ashmore Brothers performed a live acoustic set during the drinks’ reception, featuring a mix of relaxed, modern and classic songs, while guests relaxed and sipped champagne, enjoyed the wonderful atmosphere and chatted.
- We provided an iPod playlist while Louise and Julie’s Wedding Breakfast was served. The brides sent us a Spotify playlist, so we could discover the kind of music they really like, which we complemented with our curated song choices, providing tailored wedding music while guests enjoyed their meal.
- The Ashmore Brothers really got the party started in The Mill Pond Barn for the evening reception with the experienced wedding band performing two hours of live music, followed by our DJ sets late into the evening.
On hand throughout the whole day providing an amazing service, were three incredible British Sign Language interpreters, so hearing-impaired guests didn’t miss a thing. Also on-site for this special day, was Dotty, our 1970s vintage Beford ice cream van, decked in vintage bunting and stocked with the brides’ choice of luxury Cheshire farm ice cream, vegan ice cream and retro ice lollies!
