The Song Pilots perform live music for the Nottingham Forest FC Supporters Club end of season party!

But the occasion featured in this month’s blog was a little bit different. It features one of the most unforgettable live music performances The Song Pilots have experienced so far this year.
On Friday 23rd May, the Notts Forest FC Supporters Club were going to hold their epic end of season celebration at the iconic City Gound, home of their beloved Nottingham Forest FC. Supporters Club Secretary Nigel Strong, contacted Liam at Ashmore Music ahead of the event to book the live entertainment for this amazing party!
Nottingham Forest FC is currently one of the oldest active football clubs in the Premier League, dating back to 1865. The City Ground is steeped in history from the club’s move there in 1898 – when they also won their first FA Cup title. The centenary celebrations in 1998 included a parade of some of the biggest names in the club’s history, Nottingham Forest FC strips from down the years and special half-time entertainment for the fans. Since the club’s promotion to the Premier League, there has been considerable investment in the City Ground and its facilities, to make sure that every game is a memorable experience for fans of the club.
As Nottingham lads still based in the city, The Song Pilots felt very honoured to be asked to perform their live indie music vibes in such an historic venue of significant importance to their hometown. They were the perfect live music band to get the party started, as they are Nottingham Forest FC fans themselves and have such strong links to Nottingham itself.
The guys in the band were understandably thrilled and looking forward to performing live at this party, so close to their hearts. They were notified of some fan favourites before the event (although, they knew the songs already, as fans of the club!) so they made sure that their live music sets were liberally peppered with supporters’ club favourites, so everyone could sing along!
The doors opened at 5.30 pm that evening, giving Chris, Joey, and David of The Song Pilots plenty of time to set up for their live performances and sound check before the members of the Supporters Club started to arrive at the venue at 7 pm. They eased into the night with a DJ set, setting the scene and providing background music as the fans mingled and started to enjoy the special atmosphere of their end of season celebration.
The energy in the room was constantly building throughout the evening and as the buffet was served, so by 9:15pm, it was sky-high! The Song Pilots kicked off their first set with a rousing rendition of ‘Forest all over the world,’ a song guaranteed to keep the excitement going and make sure everyone was fully immersed in their live music performance, right from the start. This was followed by a quick raffle draw and a few shout-outs from Nigel, before the guys started their second, longer live music performance. They were determined to make sure everyone would be on their feet until midnight!
The Nottingham Forest FC classic was followed by many more throughout The Song Pilots’ live sets, including ‘Just can’t get enough’ by Depeche Mode, and ‘Seven nation army’ by the White Stripes. Indeed, the red and white spirit of Nottingham Forest FC filled the room, and every chorus of these famous fans’ favourites was sung with pride and gusto, almost raising the roof of the iconic City Ground!
The Song Pilots live music performance culminated in a stirring performance of ‘Mull of Kintyre’ for the grand finale, with everyone singing along enthusiastically. The guys joked that lead singer and guitarist Joey was almost emotional with amazement at the total commitment of every fan in joining in this Nottingham Forest FC Supporters Club classic number! It was certainly a moment to remember for everyone taking part in the celebration.
The Song Pilots would like to thank Supporters Club Secretary Nigel Strong, for booking them for this amazing event in their home town at the City Ground – the guys enjoyed it every bit as much as the Supporters Club members, which you can see for yourself on their Instagram reel. They are very much hoping to be invited back to perform live at next year’s end of season party, too!
